Why are so many people struggling right now—and what can we actually do about it? In this powerful conversation, Clara Reynolds, President and CEO of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, shares the deeply personal story that shaped her life’s mission: helping people in crisis find hope, support, and a path forward. When Clara was young, her mother—one of Tampa’s first female police officers—died by suicide while Clara was home. That moment changed everything. Instead of turning away from trauma, she dedicated her life to understanding it and helping others survive it. Today, Clara leads the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, one of the region’s most critical resources for suicide prevention, trauma counseling, and emergency mental health support. Through the 211 crisis helpline, specialized services for veterans and first responders, and partnerships with law enforcement, schools, and the Tampa International Airport, the Crisis Center is rethinking how communities respond to crisis.
