Did you know MLK Jr. Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service?

Feeding Tampa Bay proudly rallies around Dr. King’s legacy of service, unity, and volunteerism to uplift our community. On Monday, January 19, 2026, we expect around 1,000 volunteers to join us in honoring the life and impact of this prominent Civil Rights leader. Each volunteer who attends receives an MLK Day of Service shirt, and the featured design could be your own!

Be a part of this momentum! We’re inviting local Black artists to share their vision of Dr. King’s legacy by submitting a design for our official MLK Day of Service t-shirt.

Deadline to submit your design is Friday, December 12, 2025.

eligibility

The shirt design contest is open to local Black artists who reside in Feeding Tampa Bay’s 10-county area (Citrus, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sumter counties.)

specifications

The winning design will be featured on the backside of a black t-shirt. Please use a maximum of three (3) distinct colors to ensure cost-effective printing, with a maximum printable area of 12 inches wide by 14 inches tall.

deadline

All submissions must be received by Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:59PM. After an internal review, 3-5 designs will go live in a public voting poll between December 16, 2025 – December 18, 2025, with a winner announced on Friday, December 19, 2025.

winner + runner-ups

One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive:

  • Cash Prize: A cash award of $1,500.00.
  • Event Tickets: Two (2) tickets to attend “Our Table,” an event held at FTB’s Causeway Center on January 16, 2026.
  • Artwork: One (1) framed copy of the winning artwork.
  • Merchandise: One (1) complimentary T-shirt featuring the winning design.

Two (2) Runner-Ups will receive:

  • First Runner-Up Cash Prize: A cash award of $750.00.
  • Second Runner-Up Cash Prize: A cash award of $250.00.
  • Artwork: One (1) poster print of their respective design.
